(Clara's POV)
(A MONTH LATER)
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I groaned and reached for it, hoping it was Alastair. He was the only one who could make me smile in the morning.
I looked at the screen and saw his name. I smiled and answered.
"Hey, babe," I said.
"Hey, love. How are you feeling today?" he asked.
I rubbed my belly and felt a kick. I smiled again.
"I'm feeling good. The baby is active today."
"That's great. I can't wait to see you and our pup."
I blushed and said, "Me too. When are you coming over?"
"Soon. I just have to finish some work at the pack house. I'll be there in an hour."
"Okay. I'll see you then."
"I love you, Lara."
"I love you too, Alastair."
I hung up and got out of bed. I stretched and headed to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and washed my face, then stepped on the scale. I gasped at the number. I had gained another two kilos since last week. I frowned and poked at my round stomach. I felt like a balloon.
