ROSALINE DAVENPORT…..
“Have you lost your mind? What were you doing? What if he recognized you?” Nathaniel yelled at me in the car and I let out a scoff. “Never. He will never recognize me. The Angelica he knew was never so bold. She couldn't even raise her voice in front of him. She was innocent and timid. She always obeyed his orders as if he was God to her. She didn't just love him, she worshipped him. Are there any similarities between us? No, we are poles apart. She was as calm as water but Rosaline Davenport is as stormy as chaos.” Nathaniel's face softened, and they let out a defeated sigh, then looked at me tenderly. “Still, you should be careful around him. I don't want him to harm you again. He has done enough. Now we should get back at him.” I smirked at him. “You are right. It's time to strike back. Let's begin with the Greenland project. He wants to get it right. We will snatch that project from him. Then we will launch our new perfume that will be a hit in the market. Then our new winter collection of clothes. It will be the third attack. Now, he will only see the downfall. And he deserves it.” “You don't worry, I will take care of everything. You just wait and watch.” I nodded and looked outside the window. Even though I was making plans to take Alexei down, I was disturbed inside. I didn't know what this feeling was. I was fully prepared to face him, but when he confronted me, I was shocked. I was overwhelmed by emotions. My heart was racing against my ribcage. I hate him, so why did my heart react that way? It shouldn't go against me. I will never fall weak before him. He had hurt me enough. Now it's payback time. I almost died. I won't kill him but I will make his life leaving hell. He will lose everything he loves the most. At first, his fame in the business world, then his love,r, then his pack. How dare he say that Angelica was close to his heart? How dare he lie to me? He never even smiled at me and now he's claiming her to be his love. How can someone make false stories to gain sympathy? Why didn't he marry Charlotte after clearing the obstacle of their life? What was he waiting for? “I forgot to tell you one thing.” Nathaniel's voice brought me back from the chain of thoughts. And I turned to him. “Charlotte left the pack. I don't know the reason but she left the pack three years ago.” “What?” I exclaimed in utter disbelief. “Yes. The reason is unknown. But I'm trying to track her down. Very soon I will bring her to you.” He promised me and I smiled at him as I knew he would keep his promise at any cost. Suddenly, Nathaniel got a call, so he excused himself. I noticed his expressions closely and found his face getting pale with each second. “Okay, we will be there.” Saying that he cut the call and looked at me. “Grandma’s condition is not well. She wants to see you before she dies. We have to leave for Colombia.” My heart thudded hearing his words. Grandma was such a sweetheart. I had gone to meet her once. She didn't know about Rosaline's death. “Get our jet ready. We will fly to Colombia right away.” Nathaniel nodded and called someone to get our jet ready. Mom also accompanied us. It took us almost four hours to reach Colombia. We rushed to the hospital where Grandma was admitted. Her health suddenly deteriorated and they admitted her to the ICU. Doctor only allowed me to meet her. When I got inside I found her lying on the bed with her oxygen mask on. It was pi-drop silent inside the room except for the beeping sound of the machines. I walked near her and touched her hand. She opened her eyes when she felt my touch. She placed her hand on mine that was on her other hand and squeezed it a little. I saw her eyes brimming with tears and my eyes also welled up with tears seeing her condition. She pulled her mask off and smiled at me. “I'm glad…. you came to meet me….. at my last moment. I wanted to…. see you…. before…. I die.” It was really difficult for her to speak. She was so weak and it pained me to see her like that. My heart clutched painfully but I couldn't do anything to make her health better. “Don't say such things. Nothing will happen to you. You will be fine soon.” She just smiled at my words. “Learn to…. control your anger, my child. I know…. you have a soft heart…..behind your….. coldness. I hope….. you found someone…. who truly…..loves you and….. treats you….. better.” Tears rolled down from my eyes hearing her words. I told her that my mate cheated on me so I left him. But she didn't know her grandchild was no more. That's why she wished for me to get a partner who cherishes me and cares for me. But I don't want anyone in my life. I have no trust in man. I don't want to give my heart to anyone. What if they also played with my feelings? “I wanted to….. play…. with your child.” She laughed weakly. “But alas, I don't have…. much time…. left.” I couldn't say anything to her. I didn't know what to say. “Promise me. Promise me, that…. you will…. find your….happiness. You will…..love again.” She asked me, putting me in a great dilemma. “Hurry up, my child.” She insisted. “I promise. “ So I hurried up, and she smiled. “Good girl.” Her hand slipped from my hand and I kept staring at her in shock. She wasn't moving, and the zig-zag line in the heart monitoring machine went straight, indicating she was no more. My lips trembled looking at Grandma's smiling face. My whole body was shivering. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I tilted my head to find Nathaniel standing behind me with tears in his eyes. Mom came to Grandma and closed her open eyes with her hand. “Nathaniel, Grandma….” My voice cracked and I broke into tears. He pulled my head against his body and held me while rubbing his hand on my back. “Everyone has to leave this world one day. Look, she died happily. Just pray for her so that she rests in peace in heaven.” I wrapped my arms around his waist and cried hard. “Take her outside, Nathan. And I will arrange for her last rituals.” I heard Mom saying that to Nathaniel and he took me outside of the ICU. He made me sit on a chair and gave me a glass of water. “You stay here. I have to make some calls. Please, don't go anywhere.” Saying that he walked away from there. It was really a tough situation for me. No one died in front of me. I was totally shaken off. Her every word kept replaying in my mind while her smiling face kept flashing in my eyes whenever I closed my eyes. I was feeling suffocated so I got up to go outside to have some fresh air. I was passing through the corridor, and suddenly, I bumped into someone. “Don't you have eyes?” The person yelled at me which boiled my blood as it was clearly her fault. It was her who wasn't looking ahead and bumped into me. “I can say the same to you, girl.” I pushed my hair back and looked at her with my blazing eyes when her eyes went wide in shock and she stared at me without blinking her eyes. “ROSALINE!” She mumbled my name in a way as if she just saw a ghost. “No, you can't be alive. I think I'm hallucinating.” She was talking to herself like a crazy person and I kept staring at her cluelessly. “Maybe she knows Rosaline.” My wolf remarked. “Do you know me?” I asked her and she looked at me with astonishment. “Who are you?” She asked me and I could sense terror in her voice. “You just take my name. That means you know me. Then why are you asking me, who am I?” I retorted and she covered her mouth with her palms. “No, it can't be true.” Saying that she started to run. “Hey, wait.” I ran behind her, caught her outside the hospital, and pinned her against the wall. “Tell me, who are you? And why are you running away from me after hearing my name?” Her face turned pale. And I could hear her heartbeat thumping so loudly. “You don't know me?” She asked me, squinting her eyes at me. “Am I supposed to know you?” I asked her, narrowing my eyes at her. She kept staring at me for some good moments. “You were dead then how come you are alive now? It can't be possible. You must be some imposter.” I chuckled at her words. “Why do you think that I'm an imposter?” “Because we killed you with our bare hands and made sure you were dead. Then how come you are alive?” She covered her mouth when she realized what she had done. But her words totally shook me. Rosaline was killed! But didn't Mom say she had committed suicide? She again tried to run away from me but I held her hand and pushed her head so hard against the wall that she fainted there. I called my bodyguard to take her to the basement of Grandma’s house and locked her. I have to settle scores with Rosaline's killer before I go back to take revenge on Alexei. And I have to know who was the second person who was her crime partner. I attended Grandma’s last rituals and mourned for her. I didn't say anything to her family that she was killed. She didn't commited suicide. Because they were already sad about losing Grandma. And they would be broken if they got to know about Rosaline's death secret. I have to handle it myself. Three days later, after Grandma’s funeral, I went to the basement to meet that girl. I had ordered them to keep her in darkness with no food and no water. I opened the big wooden door with a crack sound and was welcomed by darkness. My bodyguard switched on the light and I heard a scream coming from ahead. She covered his eyes with the hand that was tied with silver chains. “Look who came to meet you today." My bodyguard told her and she removed her forearm from her eyes to look at me. The moment her gaze landed on me she started to swear at me. “You butch, release me from here.” That was enraged at me struggling with the silver chains. I scoffed at her for calling me names and clenched her jaw tightly with my hand. “I dare you to call me a bitch again, I will rip your head off your shoulder.” I let go of her face with a jerk and she glared at me. “You killed Rosaline and now calling me names? You bloody bitch.” I gave a hard punch across her face making her nose bleed. “Tell me, who was your partner in killing Rosaline?” I asked her, and she laughed, showing her bloody teeth. “Kill me, I will never tell you.” I raised my brow with a smirk and advanced towards her. “So much loyalty. Then tell me why did you kill her?” I asked her but she shook her head. I pulled out my dagger and cut one finger of her hand, not wasting a moment, making her scream in pain. “What did you think I would kill you so easily? I'm your dream. I will torture you to death but won't kill you. You will beg me to kill you but this is what you won't get until you tell me why you killed her and who was your crime partner.” I smiled viciously and looked at her finger from where blood was oozing out. “Choice is yours, darling,” I said dramatically, holding a malicious smirk on my face.
