“He’s my man, Hazel, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready for a pregnancy,” Ava muttered, leaning her weight against the bonnet of her car. “And honestly, I’m not prepared for it either.”
Hazel gave her a teasing side-eye and sauntered over, standing beside her.
“So what you’re saying is… you still want to enjoy your sexcapades while the coast is clear?”
Ava chuckled. “Exactly. This is just the beginning for me and Zac. An unplanned pregnancy right now would complicate things and I don’t want that.”
Raising her chin slightly, she added smoothly, “Let me enjoy my man in peace.”
Hazel grinned, her tone softening. “Oh my God, Ava.” She pulled her into a warm embrace. “To be honest, I’m always so happy for you. Every time I see you this way… in love… I can’t help but smile. It’s rare, real love. You found it. You’re sooooo lucky.”
Ava’s heart swelled. She returned Hazel’s hug tightly, a bright smile lighting up her face.
In her world, there weren’t many she held dear but Hazel’s place was irr
