The nurse glanced between us and parted her lips to speak but Atlas beat her to it.
“I managed to get you on parole,” he said, smiling at me. “Because…” he drew out, staring at me like I was a rare jewel. “…of the best news I’ve got in my entire life”
Oh, so I wasn’t dying from some terminal illness.
“What news?” I asked, glancing between them.
“We’re pregnant Julia,” Atlas announced and my world stopped.
“It’s a high risk,” he took my hands, kissing them “But, peekaboo, we’re pregnant!”
Tears blurred my vision as a soft laugh escaped my lips. I traced my stomach, and Atlas’ hand rested on mine.
“I never got to bond with the triplets, because I was an idiot. But, I promise, this time, I will be the best dad ever,”
“You are the best dad, Atlas. Our kids are lucky to have someone like you.”
He leaned in, kissing me. My hands traveled to his hair, drowning in his soft curls.
“I guess I'll leave now,” The nurse coughed awkwardly. “Congrats again,”
The door shut behind us and Atlas and
