“You’re acting like fools,” I said finally, seeing them go silent at my question.
“No,” Draven said, voice dipping low, “we’re acting like brothers who don’t want to bury you in six months when your system collapses from starvation so we're especially interested in anything that concerns you.”
Their concern was irritating. Their loyalty even more so.
But the thing that truly made my jaw tighten wasn’t what they said, it was what they didn’t.
I tilted my head slightly. “ So will you now tell me something… How did you all know about my mate even before today’s meeting?”
They went still.
Draven scratched his brow. Nir looked away. Nachos fidgeted with the edge of his sleeve.
