Elaine’s POV
I lay in bed, my body still and my breathing steady, pretending to be asleep. My eyes remained closed, but my senses were heightened.
I could feel Killian outside, his presence like an electric current in the air. He thought he could watch me unnoticed, that I was still that vulnerable human unable to sense him. Jokes on him.
Even without opening my eyes, I knew exactly where he was, and could almost see the intensity in his gaze as he watched me. I had felt him the moment he arrived, his energy unmistakable and all-consuming. He thought he was being stealthy, but he underestimated me.
I shifted slightly, letting the sheets rustle just enough to be convincing. My mind raced with thoughts of him, the memory of his touch, and the confusion of why he would stalk me like this. What was he hoping to achieve by watching me sleep?
