"What? Are you joking?"
I was shocked by Kaiser's answer. Maya is waging a war against us? Why would she want to do that? Didn't she want to become a part of our pack? What's happening?
"I wish I could joke," I heard Kaiser's reply in a devastated tone.
I looked at Kaiser, he looked torn between his love and his duty. I had never seen him like that ever.
