Racheal groaned as she sat up in bed, rubbing her eyes sleepily. She glanced over at Alpha Axel, who was already dressed in an all-black suit, looking somber and serious.
"Where are you going?" she asked, her voice still thick with sleep.
"It's Brandon's burial today," Alpha Axel replied quietly, his gaze distant.
Racheal felt a pang of sympathy for him, knowing how close they had been. But she also felt a wave of anxiety wash over her at the thought of attending a funeral.
She hated funerals, the sadness and finality of them always left her feeling drained and depressed.
"I...I don't think I can go," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm feeling sick."
Alpha Axel turned to her, his eyes softening as he reached out to cup her cheek. "That's okay, sweetheart. I understand. You stay here and rest. I'll be back soon."
