I halted in my tracks, standing like a deer caught in a headlamp. My head reeling from what I had just heard. The flashlights went off and I was blinded and dazed by them.
Again, I felt Dean place one hand on my head and the other on my shoulder as he gently pushed me into the car. Hayley grabbed my hand, cradling it in hers.
"That was insane!" Hayley exclaimed.
"I know, right?" I replied, still trying to catch my breath and gather my thoughts.
Reporters surrounded the car, taking pictures and shouting at the tinted car glass as Dean drove away.
"How did they know?" I asked no one in particular. How did this happen? Panic set in as the thought of going to the house and facing Alexander, especially his grandfather crossed my mind.
"I had a feeling something was off. I just knew they were out there for you. I could feel it in my bones."
