Xander’s sudden arrival at the door scared the hell out of me. I panicked and whispered sharply.
“Why did you call him here?”
I tried to punch Carlos’s rock-hard muscles to show my anger, but it did more damage to my hand. “Why do you have to invite him to ruin it?”
“I did what?” Carlos raised his brow, murmuring in confusion. “Why would I call Xander at this moment?”
Then it struck him, the agreement I foolishly mentioned at the wrong time. Carlos leaned in, not to kiss, but to whisper against my ear, his voice velvet and sharp with amusement.
“Thanks for reminding me, princess. As the deal’s off, we should let your ex inside. I am sure we can find a rope strong enough for a Ledger Alpha.”
