“When will Papa be back?” Annika asks and my eyes travel to the wall clock. It's already past 8 and Viktor is not yet back. He's not picking up his calls either.
“I think he's busy. I don't think he will return home early. Go to bed. You can show him your dance tomorrow.” I say to Annika and a sad look clouds her face. The book of us has been practicing a new ballet dance and Annika was dying to show it to Viktor. She refused to go to bed and decided to wait for him. But he's not yet home and I can keep her awake.
“Come here, dear.” I carry her in my arms as I carry her to bed, lying her down on it. “Your papa is so busy these days. You will show him your dance tomorrow and he will love it.” I smile at Annika, slowly stroking her forehead.
“Do you think that he will?” She mumbles and I nod.
“He will love it. But you need to sleep for now. I will read you a bedtime story.” I offer, retrieving a book. There is a happy look on Annika’s face as I flip through the book. I begin
