Liam and I spent the morning having breakfast with Patrick at a cafe close to his house. After we were done, Patrick had to leave for work, while I took Liam to see my mother.
Breakfast went well.
Patrick didn’t say or do anything to upset me.
Coming to New York with Liam wasn’t as bad as I had thought. I was just worried for nothing. For the first time, I didn’t feel like throwing a brick on Patrick’s face.
On our way to my mother’s house, I kept glancing at my phone at intervals, hoping to see Jamal’s name flash across my screen.
But it felt like I was waiting for something that would never happen. Was Jamal done with me? His silence was suffocating me.
At some point, I thought about reaching out to him.
But I hesitated.
If he wanted to talk, he would have texted or called. What if I sent him a text and ended up being ignored? Letting out a deep sigh, I shoved my phone into my bag.
