Jessie’s POV
I clutched my purse tightly, trying to calm the raging thoughts within me.
“How could one person be so multi faceted?” I thought.
One minute he was raging, another he was sweet.
By this time, Uncle Sam halted at a hospital door marked VIP and turned towards me.
“Jess, you don’t look like yourself. Is everything alright?”
I nodded swiftly with a smile on my face. “I just want to see Mom,”
Uncle Sam pulled the door open and I was immediately awed by the sight of it.
Its luxurious furnishings and serene atmosphere was a sharp contrast to the regular rooms we were used to.
I hurried to mother’s side and I was instantly struck by the trace of life in her face.
She looked better than I had seen her in weeks. Tears welled up as I sat beside her, taking her hand in mine.
“Mom…” I whispered, “You look so beautiful…”
I felt a gentle squeeze on my hand as I spoke, and for the first time— for the very first time, my mother opened her eyes and she even managed a smile.
“My baby…”
