CHAPTER FIVE

I tried to stand up, to leave and process what was happening, but Mr Orion's stepmother's words stopped me in my tracks.

"Selene, your birthmark...it's a sign of your destiny. It's only given to the children of an Alpha werewolf bloodline."

I turned back to her, my eyes wide with confusion.

"What do you mean? I'm human. I don't have any werewolf blood."

She smiled again, her eyes glinting with a knowing light.

"Ah, but that's where you're wrong, Selene. You see, your birthmark...it's a mark of greatness. A sign that you're meant for something more."

I shook my head, feeling like I was trapped in a dream. "I don't understand. What do you mean?"

Mr Orion's stepmother leaned in, her voice taking on a conspiratorial tone.

"You'll see, Selene. You'll see what you're truly capable of. And when you do...you'll join us, as one of our own."

I felt a shiver run down my spine as she straightened up, her eyes never leaving mine.

What did she mean? What was I capable of? And what did she mean by "join us"? I was human, not a werewolf. But the mark on my arm seemed to be pulsing with a strange energy, as if it was trying to tell me something...

I turned away, my heart racing, and ran straight to my room. I slammed the door shut behind me and locked it, feeling like I needed to escape the strange and unsettling conversation I had just had.

I quickly grabbed my phone and dialed my aunt's number, my hands shaking with urgency. She had always been tight-lipped about my birthmark, changing the subject whenever I brought it up. But now, I needed answers.

As the phone rang, I paced back and forth across my room, my mind racing with questions. What did it mean? Why had my aunt kept it a secret? And what did Mr Orion's stepmother mean by "children of an Alpha werewolf bloodline"?

Finally, my aunt answered, her voice calm and soothing. "Hey, kiddo. Been a while you called, What's wrong?"

I took a deep breath, i blurted out my questions, not caring if I sounded frantic.

"Aunt, what's going on with my birthmark? Why did you never tell me about it? what does it mean?"

There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, I thought I'd lost the connection.

But then my aunt spoke, her voice measured and careful. "Selene, sweetie...we need to talk. But not over the phone. Come home, and we'll discuss everything, okay?"

I nodded, even though she couldn't see me. "Okay, Aunt. I'll come over soon."

As I hung up the phone, I felt a sense of determination wash over me. I was going to get answers, no matter what it took. And I was starting to suspect that my life was about to change in ways I never could have imagined.

I sat on my bed, trying to process everything that had happened. But as I stared at my arm, I suddenly remembered that I hadn't texted my friends, Ariel and Chris, in a while. They were werewolves too, and I wanted to ask them about my birthmark.

I quickly grabbed my phone and sent them a text. "Hey guys, long time no talk! How are you both doing?"

Ariel responded first, her message laced with sarcasm. "Wow, finally decided to remember us, huh?"

Chris, ever the peacemaker, chimed in. "Hey, hey, no fighting! Selene, what's going on? Why the radio silence?"

I took a deep breath and explained everything - the conversation with Ethan's stepmother, the strange energy I felt, and the questions I had about my birthmark.

Ariel and Chris were shocked. "You have a birthmark like that?! We need to see it in person, Selene!"

Chris added, "Yeah, and we need to talk about this over a drink. How about tomorrow evening?"

I agreed, feeling a sense of relief that I would finally get some answers from people I trusted. "Sounds good to me. See you both tomorrow!"

As I put my phone down, I felt a sense of excitement mixed with nerves. What would they tell me about my birthmark? And what did it mean for my future? I couldn't wait to find out.

My mind was racing with thoughts of Ariel and Chris, and what they might reveal about my birthmark, when suddenly, I remembered, I needed to ask permission from my boss, Mr. Orion, to take the evening off to meet my friends.

My heart sank as I recalled the uncomfortable encounter we had in the room downstairs a while ago. The way he looked at me, the way he leaned in close...I shuddered at the memory.

I didn't want to ask him for anything, especially not after that incident. But I had no choice. I needed to meet with Ariel and Chris, and I couldn't do it without his approval.

With a sigh, I got up from my bed and headed to his office, bracing myself for another uncomfortable encounter. As I knocked on the door, I steeled myself for what was to come.

"Enter," he called out, his deep voice sending a shiver down my spine.

I took a deep breath and stepped inside, trying to appear confident and composed. But as I met his gaze, I couldn't help but feel like I was walking into a trap...

"Mr. Orion, I need to ask for a favor," I said, trying to sound professional.

"Oh? And what might that be, Selene?" he asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he leaned back in his chair.

"I need to take the evening off tomorrow. I have a personal appointment I can't miss," I explained, trying to keep my tone neutral.

He raised an eyebrow. "An appointment, you say? With whom?"

I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "Just some friends. We're meeting for drinks."

He leaned forward, his eyes locked on mine.

In a desperate bid to claim the amulet, I ducked away from the girl and made a grab for the pedestal. But she was too quick. With a swift motion, she snatched the Moonstone Amulet from its resting place and held it aloft, its glow illuminating her triumphant face."No!" I cried, my heart racing with disappointment. "That's mine!"The girl merely laughed, a wild, untamed sound, and held the amulet out of my reach. "Catch me if you can!" she taunted, her eyes sparkling with mischief. With a wicked grin, she turned and ran, the amulet clutched in her hand.I scrambled to my feet, determined to pursue her, but the cave was collapsing around me. Rocks crashed down, blocking my pa

Maybe I could dig up something on Ryker and his followers, find out what they're planning and where they are."I stopped pacing and sat down at my desk, pulling out my laptop and starting to type. I searched for any mentions of Ryker or his followers online, but there was nothing. I tried searching for other keywords, like "werewolf packs" and "supernatural threats," but still came up empty-handed.Just as I was about to give up, I remembered a book I had read a few months ago. It was about the supernatural creatures of the world, and it had a section on werewolves. I grabbed the book off my shelf and started flipping through the pages, looking for anything that might be useful. As I read, I came across a passage about a powerful werewolf artifact. It was said to be able to protect a pack from harm, and it might just be what Selene and our pack neede

I need to talk to you!" I said, frustration creeping into my voice. But it went straight to voicemail. Again.Days passed, and I grew more concerned. I tried reaching out to her on social media, but she seemed to have disappeared. A knot formed in my stomach as I wondered if everything was okay."Chris, have you talked to Selene lately?" I mean, with her newfound identity and all..." I pressed on."I'm sure she's just processing everything. But hey, speaking of Selene, her birthday is coming up soon. We sho

CHAPTER SIXTY FOUR_ARIEL_As Selene's best friend, and like a sister to her. It was the most shocking part of her life I got to know. I know how much Selene hates the idea of werewolves and all that. Not to talk of being a werewolf from an Alpha bloodline?I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Selene, my best friend, my sister in every way, was telling me that she was with a birthmark owned by werewolves? It sounded like a joke, but the seriousness in her voice told me otherwise."Guys, I'm telling you, I have this birthmark on my body and it means I'm from an Alpha werewolf bloodline," Selene said over the phone.I was taken aback. I had always known Selene to be a skeptic when it came to supernatural things, and now she was telling me that she was one of us?"Selene, that's impossible," I said, trying to reason with her. "You know as well as I do that you've always been a normal person all your life, how come you suddenly have that birthmark?"But Selene was insistent. She told us

"Selene, you are not like other humans. You have a special gift, a special purpose. You cannot simply walk away from that.""I can try," I said, my voice defiant.
