Breakthrough. (Part—five)
“W-what happened next?” I requested with my tone barely above a whisper. “Did your mission fail?”
“Not quite. It was half successful until we were recognised and some rat in the high authority blew our cover. We barely left with our lives intact.”
I gasped. Just by thinking about it, my ribs shudder in fright at the perilousness of it all.
“We wanted our country to be drug-free, violence-free, and corruption-free.”
It was hurting my insides to know about my own parents when they are not here. I could only listen and be silent with my heart pounding inside my chest.
“Your father and Shrey were the youngest soldiers of the time to accomplish more than fifty-plus missions on their own. Each task was more perilous than the last.”
The silence was deadly at that as I heard him say that with a grip of tremendous pain etched on his old face with proud-filled eyes. He was proud of them; I could read that in his gleaming eyes.
