The steady beeping of medical machines echoed in my ears as I struggled to open my eyes.
Sophie rushed over. Her voice was choked with emotion.
“Hannah… you’re finally awake.”
Tears rolled down her cheeks one after another.
I tried to lift my hand to comfort her, but I could not even move my fingertips.
I knew I was dying.
