The paper now weighed a ton in Rio's hand. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he raised his gaze to Nate. Nate was a statue carved in fury, his already sharp features sharpened, eyes burning holes through the toys. The tension radiated off him like a furnace, thickening the air in the room.
Nate finally moved. Without a word, he seized the toys and the note, then stormed out of the room, taking his oppressive aura along. Rio dragged a hand down his face before releasing a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding.
