Chapter 4

Author: Frosted Cabbage
"I'm fine, Andrew. Don't blame Eleanor. She just got so emotional and accidentally knocked me over."

"You're too kind, Daisy. You don't need to protect her. I saw everything!"

Andrew carefully helped Daisy to her feet, treating her as though she were made of glass. He held her in his arms and glared at me with fiery anger.

This was the first time in our five years of marriage that I had seen him this angry.

"Apologize to Daisy, Eleanor! It's my fault for pampering you for these five years and turning you into a shrew! You know Daisy's wounds don't heal easily. You know how important her beautiful face is to her!"

Andrew's eyes burned with rage. He didn't seem to see the swelling on my face.

I met his gaze calmly. "The one who needs to apologize is Daisy, not me. She keeps mocking my dad. Andrew, don't you have anything to apologize for about what happened with my dad?"

A flicker of surprise crossed his face.

"If it weren't for me, Carlos would have died much earlier. Eleanor, I promise

When the young Andrew said those words, there was no calculation in his eyes—only me. But in the end, he was the one who hurt me the most and shattered my family.Just then, warmth enveloped my back. A familiar breath brushed against my ear.Andrew held me tightly, so tightly I could barely breathe, as if letting go would make me disappear forever. His voice trembled with grief. "Eleanor, don't you see? That's us when we were kids. Give me a chance, please. Let me spend the rest of my life making up for everything. I'll get you whatever you want. Just let me stay by your side."A single, scalding tear fell onto the back of my ice-cold hand. It almost burned.Who would have thought that the strongest warrior of Darkmoon Pack would cry because of me?I sighed. My voice carried a cold edge as I said, "Andrew, I just want you to disappear from my sight."Still, he refused to let go. But before he could say another word, Kalel shoved him aside and pulled me away without hesitation.

After ten hours of flight, Andrew arrived at the border. He stood outside the cabin in Glaciercrest Pack where I stayed. He raised his hand as if to knock on the door, but he couldn't summon the courage to do so.In the end, he didn't knock. Instead, he stood outside quietly, letting the wind and snow swallow him whole.Dawn came. The children from the pack came running to play in the snow. When they saw him huddling by the door, one of them told him, "Ms. Silverclaw left last night. She went up to the mountain with Mr. Wildmaw for a date."Andrew's heart, once burning with urgency, felt suddenly chilled. Staggering to his feet, he raced toward the snow-covered mountain. His boots sank deep into the snow with each step. The cold winds tore at his face, but he didn't dare stop. He was afraid that if he were any slower, he might lose me forever. Finally, he stopped at an ice lake.On the thick ice layer above the lake, I stood with a camera in hand, capturing the magnificent view o

"Mr. Rasmussen!" Mathias rushed in and tried to pull Andrew's hand away, but it was as if he had grasped a block of iron. Andrew was unmovable.Daisy's neck was tightly gripped, and her face was turning red. Her nails dug into Andrew's wrist, yet she couldn't budge him in the slightest. Her wolf ears twitched, and her claws began to elongate as she tried to break free."If you kill her, you'll never see Mrs. Rasmussen again!"Mathias's words were like a thunderclap that snapped Andrew out of his frenzy. His entire body stiffened, and the blood-red fury in his eyes began to fade as his rationality returned.Slowly, he loosened his grip, and a rush of air filled Daisy's lungs. She began coughing violently. Her claws scratched deep marks into the floor as she struggled to breathe."No… You can't do this to me… You love me, Andrew… You promised me that you would protect me forever…"Andrew stared at her in silence, his eyes void of any emotion."I will protect my family and my pack

Daisy stared at him in disbelief. "We've known each other for so many years, Andrew. How could you just cut ties like that?"Andrew didn't look at her. His gaze remained fixed on the wedding photo of me and him."We're both married. We should have ended things a long time ago. The person I love now is Eleanor. I can't keep hurting her."When Daisy heard Andrew confess his love so plainly, her rationality snapped. Her voice became sharp as she rebuked, "No! The one you love is me! You've always loved me for the past ten years, haven't you?"How could you love Eleanor? You only pity her! She doesn't love you either! Don't you know who she loves? You're just unable to accept her departure. Once you get used to it, you'll be fine."Daisy embraced Andrew once again. This was the first time he saw her so desperate and out of control. He frowned in confusion. Did Daisy love him? Then why did she choose to marry Ryan? For years, he had humbly chased after Daisy, and she had grown accust

The moonlight filtered through the forest, casting its glow onto an ancient manor. Andrew sat in a large leather chair, his fingers gently tapping on the wooden armrest. His gaze was as deep as the ocean.Ever since I left, everything in the manor had remained the same as when I had gone. The violin I loved still sat by the fireplace in the living room, and my favorite cup was still on the dining table. But I would never return.Andrew stared at our wedding photo hanging on the wall, studying the faint sorrow in our eyes. I used not to understand the sadness in Andrew's gaze, but now I did.It was because he had married someone he didn't love.In the beginning, Andrew and I had been like siblings. We grew up together without any sense of gender distinction. In the world of werewolves, the bond between fated mates was mysterious, and I never once thought that Andrew would be my mate.Until one night, with the heavy scent of alcohol on him, Andrew pressed me beneath him. His hot br

After leaving the operating room, I left the divorce agreement I had drafted on the bed. I walked out of the hospital and boarded the train heading toward the border.Just before the train started moving, Andrew's message popped up on my phone screen."I didn't expect you to be so stubborn, Eleanor. How dare you cause trouble for Daisy again? Come back and apologize. Don't force me to do something you won't like."After a scoff, I pulled out my phone's SIM card and tossed it into the trash.Meanwhile, Andrew, who had been enjoying the sunset by the sea with Daisy, heard his phone ring."We've got a problem! Mrs. Rasmussen is missing! There's a document left behind on her bed. You should come see for yourself."Andrew, who had been helping Daisy put on her bikini cover-up, froze mid-motion."Eleanor's missing? And what document are you talking about?""The nurse said Mrs. Rasmussen left in the middle of the night. The document is... a divorce agreement."Andrew's grip on the ph
