Alex laid on his back as he inhaled Sophia’s hair before his fingers brushed through it. The sheets twisted beneath them, tangled like their bodies still were minutes ago.
Sophia lay half-draped across Alex’s chest, her fingers tracing faint, absent-minded lines over the center of his stomach while her cheek rested near his heart.
It was racing.
His arm wrapped lazily around her, but his hand hadn't stopped moving, trailing slow circles against her shoulder, up her neck, into her hair. His other hand rested lightly on her wrist, where her scrunchie had slipped a little during everything.
Alex’s eyes dropped to it.
He brushed his thumb along the band, his fingers moved gently as they shifted the scrunchie slightly, until something else underneath caught his eye. A black headband. Thinner. Almost faded and folded small to tuck under the scrunchie.
He felt Sophia’s breath hitch ever so slightly against his chest as his fingers brushed the scrunchie.
