Wen woke up from a gentle tap on her arm. She opened her eyes and saw Casser above her, rousing her to wakefulness. The lamp inside the cart had been extinguished by Mira before she went to sleep and it was dark. There was some light, however, that came from the fire outside and reached the leather cover of the cart such that Wen was able to immediately identify Casser.
“I’m awake, Casser. Thanks!” said Wen and she sat up. Gathering the blanket she had thrown over her body, she got out and walked towards the fire while Casser took Wen’s place inside the cart.
