The atmosphere in the coffee shop was heavy and somber. Several tables had been pushed together, with about a dozen people seated around them. They were the recently laid-off employees from Nicholls Group's tech department.
"I never thought the company would just collapse like that," Danny said, breaking the silence with a tone full of disappointment.
"Yeah, they were talking big about revitalizing Nicholls Group just days ago. Look how quickly things changed," another person chimed in with a sigh.
"It's all Fuller Group's doing. The company's been a mess ever since they showed up," someone said indignantly.
"Shh, keep it down. You can't say things like that out loud," Bob warned in a low voice with his brow furrowed.
"It's too late for talk now. We should focus on figuring out what to do next."
"What else can we do other than look for other jobs?" someone replied with bitter sarcasm and resignation. "But with the current market, it's not exactly easy to find something suitable."
