I couldn't help the way my mind kept going to check on Eve.
I knew she was extremely mad at me and I knew she didn't want to speak to me but I couldn't help the way I felt.
I'd not seen her around in a while and since I was so busy with other things in the kingdom, I didn't exactly have the time to check on her.
My mind kept drifting back to her though.
So I went to see her. I knocked on the door but there was no response and I pushed my way in. The room was empty and after checking the bathroom to see that there was no one there, I left.
I called for a guard.
“Look for Martine and send her to me.”
Maybe she also had been caught up with something that was taking her time. I was sure that it had to do with the case that we were all dealing with. Maybe she was speaking to the parents of the kids that were taken.
“Alpha, I've been told she's not on palace grounds.”
“Where is she then?”
”According to the matron, she hasn't been present for a week.”
