Breakfast passed faster than I wanted it to. Well, everyone was done eating while I was picking at my food.
How could I not? I knew Mum was going to leave soon and go back to that house so I wasn't exactly jubilating. I eventually gave up and let the food go, placing the fork on the table.
“My time here is up. I'd like to take my leave now.”
Why was my heart beating like something bad was about to happen?
Maybe because it was. I knew that man and I knew that he wasn't going to have mercy on her. He won't spare her even though none of what happened was her fault. He'll blame her and tell her that it was my fault for not being able to lie properly.
I felt very sick all of a sudden.
“Already? But you've just had breakfast. Please, a couple more hours with your daughter. It's been a while since she saw you.”
What annoyed me the most was that she was being so polite about it and acting like there was no problem. Why did she reject his offer to stay if she was so scared?
