I pressed my hand down to the paper, my fingers clinging around the pen as I signed the necessary parts in the documents.
Another contract signed.
Another business deal bagged.
Another collaboration made.
My new partner and I shook hands, and I left, my secretary and a few members of my team staying behind to take care of the rest.
Now, it was time to head back home as promised. I brought out my phone to check Brittany's reply to my most recent message; a short note to tell her about the meeting that made me leave home early this morning. I already promised to stay with her today, so it was only right she knew of my whereabouts.
A smile found its way to my lips as I read her simple reply: Sure. I'll be expecting you soon. But, why was I smiling? Maybe it was the smiley emoji at the end of her message. Something stirred deep within me, tugging at my heartstrings. That made me smile even more.
