Emily stared at Lois, who knew she must have looked a bit crazy. Lois was just so grateful, but she wished she could take Emily to the pack house for a proper test. All the tubes showed only one line, indicating that Emily wasn't pregnant. Lois took her seat and silently prayed to the Moon Goddess.
"Lois?" Emily spoke up.
"Well, I mean, congratulations. You're not pregnant, and that's something to be thankful for," Lois said.
"Oh," Emily responded, unsure of how she felt. Was she grateful or sad that she wasn't pregnant? She would have loved to carry Garrett's child inside her womb.
"Are you okay?" Lois asked, observing Emily's face. The lady appeared somewhat sad. "Emily?"
"Huh? Yes, I... I'm fine," Emily replied.
"You don't look fine to me. Are you disappointed that you're not pregnant?" Lois inquired.
"I'm fine, Lois. It's a good thing. I don't know if I can handle a child right now, especially without enough to eat," Emily explained.
