I edged curiously towards the lake house, where Wilder and Lilian were whispering under their breaths. I tried to make out what they were saying, but I wasn't able to even read their lips.
The sun was slowly setting over the pack and the lake shimmered in sheer beauty. The beauty it held contrasted to the expression on Lilian's face, so much that it made my heart thump in excitement.
After a while, Wilder's face also fell and his expression turned grim. His eyes had gotten dim and darker, and he glanced towards Lilian one last time and nodded before pulling himself off the ground with a speed that even rivaled all other vampires. His strides were fast, as if he had a purpose — the sense of urgency in his body language.
