A soft knock on my door drives me out of my thoughts.
“Um, Raegan?”
Her sweet voice fills my senses, lighting a warm spark in me that courses through my being.
My head swings up like a loose hinge as it lodges off my knuckles and I see her at the doorway.
Her head barely pokes in through the opening of my office door, her soft wave of red locks curtaining the sides of her face.
“Moonbeam.” I mutter, still slightly taken aback by her presence.
“Can I come in?” She asks softly.
“Sure.” I smile, slowly getting off my seat.
But she hesitates, standing at the threshold. “Did I disturb you?”
“Of course not, you’re never a bother, moonbeam. Come on in.” I respond, almost reaching her before she walks in, closing the door behind her.
She rests against the wooden panel, unmoving until I reach her.
For a moment I forget to breathe.
