SCARLETT
As Izer said, he came home. He was late, and I was already in bed, staring at the ceiling when he entered the bedroom.
I thought he would say something, but I was not surprised to see him silently walking to the closet room.
I turned to my side and closed my eyes. A sigh escaped my lips.
He came after some time, freshly bathed, and slipped under the sheets behind me. Sparks crawled up my spine, tugging, tingling.
Instead of wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into his body like he did all these nights, he stayed in the distance. Silent. Brooding. Sulking.
I waited for a while. My hands itched by my side. Giving up, I turned around before grabbing his arm and pushing it under my head. His body stiffened close to me.
I placed my other arm over his waist and pressed my nose into his neck. I was used to this. I didn’t think I could go a single night without clinging to him like a koala clinging to a favorite tree.
