CHAPTER THIRTY SIX
JESSICA Point of View
Jay followed behind me as we headed to the meeting room. I felt his hands on my waist and quickly knocked them out. "Come over here," Jay gestured to the seat at the corner of the room. I hesitated when Jay gestured for me to sit beside him. I was scared, and I didn't want to raise any suspicions. "Come sit here," Jay whispered, his eyes locked on mine. But I shook my head, trying to appear nonchalant. "I'm fine where I am," I whispered back. Jay raised an eyebrow, but I could see the understanding in his eyes. He knew why I was being cautious. "It's okay, nobody will notice," Jay said, his voice barely audible over the sound of Jonathan's voice. But I knew better. If I sat too close to Jay, Jonathan might notice. And if he did, it would be disastrous. "I don't want any issues," I whispered firmly, trying to convey the seriousness of the situation. Jay nodded, but I could see the disappointment in his eyes.
