A strained look crosses Luca’s face.
He’s been holding it in for years, through summers and winters, through everything, just to end up here.
Loving someone who never looked back.
This one-sided affection has reached its boiling limit; it will be in vain now to try to contain it. Any longer than this will only corrode his insides with the hot flames.
But too many things have happened between them, and it's already too late to turn things around.
Now, Luca doesn't even hope for Javier to share his feelings, just acknowledging it is enough. As long as he knows it.
Yet, right now, Javier’s head is stubbornly tilted to the side, his eyes set with a coldness Luca hadn't seen before, even his hate possesses more warmth than this.
It seems the bridge between them will only get wider.
“Javier, I…”
“I told you not to say it.” Javier jerks to his feet, his hands trembling so violently that he has to clench them against his side “I’m no longer interested in knowing your reasons.
