EMMA'S POV
I was stumped by the question, my mind confused as I tried to formulate an answer. The world around me seemed to pause, and everything faded away.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I swallowed hard and said, “It’s… Sebastian.”
Yes. I loved Sebastian. More than anything.
Across the table, Alex’s hand froze midair, the water cup he had been holding suspended just close to lips. His expression twisted, something between disbelief and resignation. His jaw tightened for a moment, but then he exhaled softly, setting the cup down carefully.
“Sebastian doesn’t know how to cherish you at all.” His voice was quiet, almost a murmur, but I'd heard it clearly and it made my heart tighten.
