Emma’s POV
I stood at the pharmacy window, tapping my fingers on the counter as I waited. "Folic acid," I muttered when the pharmacist looked up.
He nodded, sliding a small paper bag over to me. I grabbed it quickly, tucking it into my oversized tote.
It probably looked like I was doing something wrong even though I wasn't but I couldn't find it in me to care.
"I’m going to pop to the ladies' room," Abigail said suddenly beside me, loudly. I looked around hoping no one heard us.
I frowned at her, lowering my voice. "Hurry up."
She tilted her head at me, her brows rising. "What's the rush? A girl's gotta go when she's gotta go," she said with a smirk.
I bit my lip and glanced over my shoulder. I didn’t want to confirm my own fears by looking too hard, but my chest felt tight, like someone was watching me.
