Sebastian's POV
Ava’s voice had been haunting me.
I couldn't shake them. I couldn't stop the way her words twisted and turned in my mind, gnawing at the edges of my thoughts, making me question everything I had ever known about Emma.
But no.
Emma wasn’t that kind of person.
I remembered the mornings she’d wake up early just to make me coffee, always perfect, even when I was still half asleep, grumbling about how tired I was.
I remembered the way she’d make sure every little thing was in place, not because it was expected, but because she cared—so much, it was almost overwhelming.
A woman like that doesn’t simply walk away.
Just call her, I told myself. I pressed the call button.
It rang once.
Then came the cold, mechanical voice that made my stomach drop:
“The number you have dialed has blocked you.”
The door creaked open. Alex walked in, clipboard in hand. His eyes flickered over me, but he didn’t wait for a greeting.
Alex set the chart down and started adjusting my IV. I didn’t loo
