Chapter 29 – Who will be the Alpha?
Seeing my father sitting at our table first thing in the morning is not a good sign. "What is he doing here?" I ask Brett as he hands me a plate of pancakes. "He cannot find his companions that came with him and would like to know if we have seen them." He announces as though it is old news. "Interesting." I nod and make my way to the table's furthest seat from him.
I watch him as I eat my breakfast. "Briar, have you seen either of the members of the Blood Water pack this morning?" Onyx's words of 'this morning' catches my attention immediately. He is giving me a way out so I can formally tell the truth. "I have not seen anyone this morning. I woke up, showered, and now I am here." I shrug. "It is imperative that you tell me the truth, Briar." Dad pushes. "I did." My anger slowly builds within me as my father watches my every move.
I quickly finish eating and stand to put up my plate. "We are not done
