With fingers trembling, Diamond stretched forth her hand to collect the phone, unsure of what to do, especially since she doesn’t have Oscar Gray’s number.
“Take it, Diamond,” Shantel persuaded with a cleverly concealed smirk. “Your daddy should take us to meet Grandpa Monsieur King.”
“Um,” Diamond swallowed hard, staring blankly at the phone in her hands. “I will call my daddy now, okay?” she fought to remain bold.
Shantel giggled. “Tell him I love peanut chocolate ice cream. We should stop at the store to get one.”
Diamond continued to scramble some numbers on the phone, anxiously anticipating a miracle. “I will get some ice cream too. But Mommy said I shouldn’t take much sugar,” she mumbled.
If it was discovered that she had no relationship with Oscar Gray, it would be the end of her among her little friends. Not to mention that Shantel might not want to remain friends with her after that.
