On the other end of the line, Timothy fell silent.
After a while, he answered, "I don't trust anyone else. You're the only one I can count on to look after Chels and the baby."
"You trust me this much, huh?" Lucas countered with a smirk.
Timothy responded, "Of course, Chels harbors resentment toward you because you hurt her. I'm not worried at all that she'll fall for you.
"Besides, your fighting skills are impressive, and you genuinely care for Chels. You're the perfect candidate to be Chels' guardian."
Timothy's words were harsh, like a dagger to Lucas' heart. Lucas finally understood that verbally attacking someone was the most brutal thing one could do.
"You're ruthless, Timothy!"
Timothy chuckled after hearing that.
"Haha! You flatter me. I now entrust Chels' safety to you.
"I'll continue investigating the kidnappers while I'm here in Westine. There were some leads recently, but they went cold again."
Just like how it was ten years ago, all the kidnappers were dead.
