One week after the death of their alpha, the entire Blood Moon pack gathers in the hall for the funeral of the one who led them for years. This was the first time in the history of the pack that its alpha had not died of war or natural causes, but had died of an ‘illness’ or a ‘broken heart’ according to the female population (and some males too) of the pack.
The mood in the hall was that of solemn grief, with a heavy silence that made the sound of pins dropping to be like metal rods hitting the ground. The only sound heard was that of Elder Muriel as he officiated the funeral. Within a space of a month, father and child were to be buried. This time, Liana was in attendance, dressed in a modest black gown, and a sort of fascinator hat that had netting which covered her face. She played the part of grieving widow so well that I almost believe she was feeling bad.
Throughout the whole ceremony, Asher stood beside the empty chair that belonged to the alpha, staring at the place where his
