Rebecca’s loud, commanding voice rang in my ears over and over. Everyone was agitated. There was a lot of commotion, but I was stuck. I wasn’t interested in anything going on around me. It was just me and her. I held her head on my feet and refused to believe that at any second I could lose her. I would never let her go. I’d rather die than live without her. And then I called her; I talked to her, but she seemed lost in a deep, deep sleep.
