“Going where? Do you have somewhere to go?” asked Clark.
“I don’t know where to go. I’ll find a place where I can get away from him,” I replied.
“Honey, you won’t be able to run away for the rest of your life. There must be something or someone who can help you get away from him.”
“Do you think there is a guardian angel for me?” I asked, trying to joke with her. It was actually a rhetorical joke. With one eye, I was laughing and the other crying.
“Yes! There is someone,” she affirmed.
“Gaby, don’t do that!” came a determined woman’s voice.
In that second, I felt cold shivers take over my body. It was my mother! The last person I wanted to see. She had ruined my life and I couldn’t forget that. But she was still my mother and I couldn’t hate her, but I didn’t want her around me anymore.
