Mike’s question opened up an actual war in me. There was a fierce battle between reason and heart. Reason was the first to cry out: “How dare he ask such questions? These are strictly personal things I will not share with anyone.” But the heart immediately came to Mike’s defense, saying: “You don’t see how much this man loves you! A love you’ve never felt from Kevin.”
I was stuck. My aim was to bring this war to a close. I felt like I was draining my strength. I was fighting with myself to decide who to give justice to. Who was I supposed to listen to?
