I didn’t let go, something just clicked. We walk silently towards the Barracks when he suddenly stops.
“Eliza? Let’s go this way.” He gazes towards the beach and the moon reflecting on the ocean sparkles in his eyes. I nod in agreement. He holds onto my hand tight, afraid of letting go. You can feel that something has changed, he is very calm but somewhat nervous.
“Why did you run away?” He asks as he stops.
“I don’t really want to talk about it. Hope you understand.” I answer looking down on our hands before trying to pull away. He holds even tighter.
“Don’t always do this, stop running from me. I know what I said was wrong. Of course, I will always be there for you, always be here if you need a shoulder to fall back on. I am sorry that I let you down. I will try my hardest from now on to be the Friend that you need.” He then eases his grip on me and lets me go knowing he said what was bugging him.
