Joy’s POV
“Who is your favourite child, Mom ?” Jax cheekily asked, teasing our mother and I did not even look up from my plate.
The only other person after Lex, whom I did not want to even look at, leave alone about talking was my mother.
She betrayed me. Period.
"Huh ?” Mom asked surprised, her spoon hanging midair. “Favourite child ? Hmm,” she pretended to think before answering, “None of you,” she replied and all my siblings threw a hissy fit especially when she said that she had just adopted us from the fish market. “ …. you were stinky children and no one wanted you. That still seems the case,” she joked.
I could feel her glancing my way, in the hope to see me react but I completely ignored her and toyed with the little amount of food I had served in my plate.
I had lost all appetite to eat and could vaguely hear what everyone jawed away at the chatty table.
“What do a burnt pizza, frozen beer and pregnant woman have in common?”
“What ?”
“An idiot who did not take it out on time.
