Leah sat in her room in silence for moments after Alex left. If he was looking to instill panic in her then it worked because her heart never stopped pounding hard since he left .
With Alex growing suspicious, she knew it'd be far more difficult to work with Rachel undercover and she didn't want anything to jeopardize their plan together because her life depended on it, that of her baby's too.
She blamed herself for being so careless. If she had been careful, Alex would've never found out. And then her thoughts drifted to Rachel. What if Alex had suspected her. The risk had suddenly doubled and it terrified her.
She whipped out her phone from her purse and scrolled to Rachel's contact - the number they both secretly exchanged at their last meeting.
“We can't risk another trip to the east wing. He knows I'm hiding something, be careful.”.
She hit send and quickly deleted the chats and then she tossed her phone under the pillow like it was a cursed object.
