When Toby discovered Selene had gone to rescue Luke, he lost himself to his worry. The mate he had been waiting for 26 years had put herself in danger, and the Delta could do nothing to protect her. While his brother, Liam, threatened to turn their mate's behind red, Toby shifted to his wolf and spent the day running. That evening he returned to the packhouse to a very irate vampire alpha threatening to take Selene from the pack and lock her in the dungeons.
"Touch her and die vampire!" Liam snarls. Selene's family and Jones met in Matias's office to discuss Selene and Diana's impromptu rescue mission.
Jones gruffly laughs. "I'd like to see you try, mutt. You lot could not keep her safe! She is a target, yet she has free will here, able to come and go as she pleases! I'm willing to do what none of you are willing to: lock her in a cell and throw away the key until the pup is born and that which is dead!"
