I took in the Goddess’ explanation and could see how Carissa and I would balance one another, but I was also scared. I didn’t want to corrupt my mate. I didn’t want to doom her to a fate of ever-after torment with her rejection from the Meadows.
The Goddess, again, chuckled. ‘Then use it to fuel your determination. She is only denied entrance if you slip back into your bloodlust. She believes in you, so she approached me about the deal. She wanted you to have entrance into the Meadow, so she chose to wager on her own. I did not trick or trap her; she believed in you even after learning of your past. Does that not inspire you to prove her right? Only you and your actions from this day forth can deny her entrance. Do you wish to live eternity with her in my garden's peace and blissful light?
