Ana's gentle touch on my arm pulls me from my dark thoughts. "Something wrong?" she signs, her movements soft with concern.
"No, everything is fine," I sign back, trying to mask my turbulent emotions.
"Alright, do you have any plans today? I was hoping we could spend some time together. Maybe watch some TV?" Her hands move hopefully through the air.
"Sure," I agree, and we start walking back toward Anton's house. The morning sun warms my skin but does little to chase away the chill inside me.
A thought strikes me as we walk, and before I can second-guess myself, my hands are already moving. "Could I borrow your phone? I need to call my Alpha." I haven't heard anything about the search for Mom, and when I asked Anton about calling Chloe, I'd hoped he might let me reach out to my Alpha, too.
