I shut my eyes briefly and then looked around me.
The light from the sky did nothing to warm my spirits, It only served to highlight how gloomy and frigid my heart felt. This was the second day of sending those messengers but none of them had come back. Not a sign, not a word. Nothing but quiet. And for a while I thought that something might have happened to one of them.
My nails sank into my palms as I balled my fists into a fist. I tried to stop my heart from pounding. For the sake of my family and the pack I told myself I had to be strong.
