Amelie’s POV
“What happened after you came into the building?” I asked while leaning my head against the car window. “I closed my eyes to brace for death.”
“Well, you missed quite a bit,” Detective Anton stated. “After we told her to drop her gun, someone shot Vivian. Initially, I turned around and told off my officers, but they all said they hadn’t discharged their weapons. We turned around to spot Jonathan Adams with a gun in his hand. So, we ordered him to toss the gun away and lie down on the floor.”
“Jonathan?” I said, shocked.
“Yes, Jonathan,” Detective Anton confirmed. “Then he said, ‘Tell Amelie, thank you for showing me kindness when everyone else tried to use me. I know I didn’t deserve it from her after all the things I did to scare her.’ He sounded really sincere.”
