Everything stopped. It had to, right? How else would Elly’s brain process everything that was happening faster than the cool air she sucked in could warm in her lungs? One minute she was arguing with vampires, the next a massive wolf was flying through the air at her, his lethal jaws open and aimed at her neck. The angry gleam of his enormous teeth held the promise of the death she had begged for not long ago. But now, in that moment, they made her knees buckle. She embraced gravity and allowed it to pull her out of the immediate line of danger.
The massive wolf sailed past her and collided with a group of vampires. Just looking at them, she would never have believed they could keep up with a werewolf, but they quickly had him surrounded, forcing him onto the defensive. His predatory gaze kept switching between the fight and Elly. The blood-red color of his eyes practically glowed the more enraged he became by the unwelcome obstacles.
