Arthur's POV
I took Ava into our room, her sobs increasing as she clung to me.
I could feel her trembling, her body filled with fear. I closed the door behind us, locking it so we could be alone.
My mind was drawing a blank, I didn't know the next step to take. It felt like I was betraying her.
Who would have thought that people would sniff Ava's impurity this soon?
I took a deep breath, turning to face her. “Ava,” I said softly, lifting her chin so that her tear-streaked face met mine. “I promise you, everything is going to be okay. I will protect you. I won’t let anyone hurt you.”
